We were asked to create a small guest house on a large hill property above Ojai, CA. The guest house will be used by the owners as they build a larger main house. The program was necessarily simple: two rooms, a luxurious tiled bathroom, and a fireplace.

With an equal amount of well-shaded outdoor patio, the living space includes the entire landscape. A heavy wood trellis ties the outdoor and indoor spaces together, while filtering and interacting with the Southern California sunlight.
The rooms have large patio doors that open to the outside. Earth colored stucco, dark wood and glass integrate this simple box into its site. This is a place to be part of the landscape.
